Mark Murphy

Mark Murphy is a pianist, multi-instrumentalist and music teacher based in Sligo. Mark is at home across most musical genres. His first gigs were as accompanist, and later musical director, in theatre in his native Dundalk. Mark has performed in rock, folk and jazz settings with many bands including The Bughouse band, Perry Blake, The Bill Stewart Quintet, That 70’s Band, Jive Turkey and The Honey Bees. Mark has also frequently performed as a solo artist. 

Mark is an experienced piano and keyboard teacher, obtaining licentiate and associate teaching diplomas from the Central Academy of Music in London.  Mark returned to study as a mature student and obtained an honours degree in jazz performance from Newpark in Dublin. He has been teaching with Sligo School of Contemporary Music for the past four years.
